We were thrilled to host our very first Open Day at CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut on Friday, May 15. It was an action-packed event where visitors had the opportunity to connect with leading industry suppliers and explore our state-of-the-art facilities on a rare behind-the-scenes tour of our extensive service workshops, parts warehouse and training institute.
In addition to this, our truck test drive schedule for the day was fully booked out with visitors getting behind the wheel to experience the performance and handling of the Mack 780HP Super-Liner, Volvo FH, UD Condor and Volvo FM Electric trucks.
From the moment the gates opened, there was a hum of excitement and anticipation about what we had in store for the day. It was the kind of energy that builds quietly at first – people arriving, reconnecting, looking around – before it grew into something much bigger. After our suppliers arrived early to set-up their displays showcasing their latest innovative accessories, tools and equipment, they took a moment to treat themselves to some complementary morning tea and barista-made coffee.
As visitors arrived at the event, they were warmly welcomed by our CMV Truck & Bus team and received a gift bag loaded with branded merchandise courtesy of Volvo Group Australia. Visitors received an entry card to use throughout the day; once stamped at each exhibitor stall, it qualified as an entry into a prize draw for a chance to win one of three amazing prizes. Some visitors came with a clear purpose, keen to take a look at the heavy duty new and used trucks and tippers on display, whereas others were curious to meet CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut staff and learn more about the full spectrum of services available at the dealership including service, parts, finance and the training institute. Either way, the atmosphere was relaxed, open and inviting.
The dealership came to life as test drives kicked off with the Volvo, Mack and UD Trucks. The vehicles quickly became the centrepiece – drawing people in and sparking conversations with a shared appreciation for the product and the people behind it.
Our team thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to foster new connections with visitors and honour existing ones. Sharing knowledge, answering questions, and listening just as much as they spoke. The Open Day wasn’t just about showcasing what we do, but about continuing to build trust and strengthening relationships with our incredible network of suppliers and visitors.
There was a real sense of community across the dealership, and that authenticity carried through every part of the day. The afternoon attracted some new faces alongside those who chose to stay longer for Happy Hour, which included refreshments and delicious finger food provided by our talented café team onsite, with everyone clearly enjoying the atmosphere.
As the day began to wind down, there was a noticeable sense of satisfaction across the site with handshakes, smiles, and conversations wrapping up with “we’ll be in touch.” It was clear the day had achieved something more than just a successful turnout.
The Derrimut Open Day was all about showing up, opening our doors, and creating a space where people could connect with us – and with each other – in a meaningful way.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the team who made it all happen. It’s those collective efforts, both seen and unseen, that turned the day into something memorable.
