Last year David Fragapane, GroLink Nursery Director, came to Andrew, CMV Truck & Bus Volvo Sales Consultant, knowing what he was after. “David provided photos of trucks he had seen on the road and that set the tone for what he wanted,” said Andrew.
Using these ideas as the base, Andrew worked closely with David and the GroLink team to ensure the truck was spec’d exactly to their business’ requirements.
“It was great as David had a very clear picture of the end product - it was not a "normal" specification that David was after. Once we understood David's needs, we had a lot of fun making something special,” Andrew continues.
Knowing that David's eye for detail is high up the scale, Andrew also spent time with the GroLink team at their facility to gain further understanding of their needs. “I was lucky to get a tour of the GroLink facility prior to the truck arriving and I knew it had to be perfect! The operation that they run was slick, even to me not knowing much about growing plants. The small details like the water pipes perfectly aligned and valves evenly spaced apart everything was well thought out,” explains Andrew.
When it came to selecting the model, David chose the Volvo FH500 8x4 for a variety of reasons, including the bigger and more comfortable cabin. “The truck is extremely comfortable and reliable. Also, the ability to load our seedling racks with ease and the embellishments and detail have enabled great branding.”
When designing the truck, David knew that the overall look was an important aspect of what they wanted to achieve.
“Consistent branding and look and feel was imperative. We worked with CMV Truck & Bus to paint our cabin in tailored company colours / tones. Matching of pantone colours ensured correct logo and iconography, plus the final finishing, including the distinctive chrome wheels, ensured that these touches really make this truck look super impressive. It is a great representation of communicating our brand and the quality and attention to detail we focus on providing at GroLink,” said David.
Following its delivery earlier this year, the unit was sent to Klos in Geelong for some extra ‘bling’. Andrew and the CMV Truck & Bus team were extremely proud to see the final result and a very good-looking unit.
