Every year, Volvo Group Australia hosts their prestigious Dealer Awards, which recognises dealerships across the Australian dealer network that are excelling in specific areas.
This year’s awards were held during the 2023 Brisbane Truck Show, and we’re thrilled to let you know that CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut and Clayton were recognised with two well deserved awards!
CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut were extremely proud to receive the Health Safety and Wellness Award which recognises a dealership’s commitment to the health, safety and overall wellness of employees each and every day.
Ross Greig, CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut Branch Manager accepted the award on behalf of the team.
“Thank you for the recognition and the award. We are extremely proud of the program we did last year and we will continue it this year. We sell a lot of trucks and parts and do a lot of services, but this is something that has changed our team’s lives,” said Ross.
Volvo Group Australia judged the submissions for the Health Safety and Wellness Award on effectiveness, impact across the entire workforce and management commitment and we were proud to receive such wonderful feedback from Volvo Group Australia.
Kate Wentworth, Volvo Group Australia SHEQ Business Partner, said, “the winner of this year’s award has invested in comprehensive and holistic approach to the physical, mental and financial wellbeing of their team members.”
CMV Truck & Bus, and their parent company the CMV Group, has always believed that their staff are their greatest assets. Over the last few years, particularly since COVID-19, there has been an important focus on improving the health, wellbeing and safety of all employees which has led to a range of programs and initiatives being introduced at CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut.
“At the start of 2022, we noticed that staff were really struggling to spend time on their own physical and mental wellbeing in between family life and work life. So, we made an effort to start bringing some activities and programs to our staff here at Derrimut,” explains Ross.
The initial focus of these activities was on the physical wellbeing of the Derrimut team, primarily by utilising the on-site gym and equipment available.
During work hours, the team are invited to take part in monthly gym inductions and training sessions with a personal trainer. All Derrimut employees also have 24/7 access to a fully equipped on-site gym. This gives employees a safe space to focus on their own physical wellbeing. Plus, yoga classes were introduced to help staff get the most out of their everyday lives if personal training or exercise with gym equipment wasn’t their preferred way to move their bodies.
The next piece of the puzzle was focusing on what was fueling the team and Clinical Nutritionist, Nina Crawford was engaged to come on site to perform mini health checks.
“When I meet with individuals, I can help the staff identify red flags, and if there are any issues they can do something about it now. It’s really impressive that the company is doing this for their staff,” says Nina.
After a very challenging few years, CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut also prioritised the team’s mental health by providing a number of other services.
A professional from Beyond Blue visited the dealership to speak with the team and provide insights into her own experiences with mental health. She also shared valuable some tips on how to improve your own mental wellbeing.
Ross and the Derrimut Management team also encouraged team members to utilise the resources available to them thanks to an initiative the CMV Group started in 2019 – CMV Care. Housed on the CMV Group’s Intranet, CMV Care focuses on the physical, mental and financial wellbeing of all employees and offers a range of resources and offers to assist in these areas, such as health insurance discounts, fitness offers, mental health resources and much more.
As we look forward, Ross and the Derrimut management team are wanting to focus on other areas to improve the wellbeing of all team members.
“In 2023 we will continue our focus on physical and mental wellbeing, but we will also shift our focus to the financial wellbeing of our staff. We have engaged some of our superannuation and financial business partners to come in and give some tips on the cost-of-living pressures,” says Ross.
Following the success of these activities at Derrimut in 2022, Miles Crawford, General Manager CMV Truck & Bus says, “our focus moving forward is to roll this program out right across CMV Truck & Bus and to support all branches and team members around the state of Victoria.”
As well as this exciting win for CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut, our Clayton team were also thrilled to be presented with the award for Customer Satisfaction (Metro).
Volvo Group Australia judged the submissions for the Customer Satisfaction Award on customer feedback results regarding staff and the dealership as a whole, and we are very pleased to receive such positive feedback from customers and Volvo Group Australia.
Jennifer Guesgen, Volvo Group Australia Commercial Director, said, “looking at their particular sales and delivery score whilst keeping up customer satisfaction feedback, plus all the challenges the network has faced in the last few years is absolutely outstanding.”
CMV Truck & Bus Clayton has built a strong rapport with their customers and it’s no surprise that they receive feedback such as “we go past other places to go because CMV Truck & Bus Clayton know what they are doing, the mechanics have specialists knowledge and it makes a difference.”
