Alistair Gipp is the Director of Gipp Group Transport, based in Benalla, and since starting the company in 2018, Alistair’s business and team has steadily grown, providing a range of logistics services including towing, heavy haulage, road, shipping container and machinery transport across Australia.
We have proudly partnered with Alistair since 2018 and over that time, he has built an impressive fleet of Volvo, UD and Mack trucks.

When Alistair first started out in the industry, he was a mechanic selling shipping containers. At the time, he was outsourcing a lot of transport work to other providers, but he saw an opportunity to take control of the process. This resulted in him buying a truck and delivering containers himself.
Today, Gipp Group Transport employs 21 people and operates a fleet of 16 trucks, handling everything from pre-cast concrete and logging to container work and more.
Alistair’s first connection with CMV Truck & Bus began when he purchased a used Volvo from our Albury/Wodonga team. What stood out wasn’t just the truck itself – it was the people he met. He recalls building a strong rapport with Jarrod Kaye who was a Foreman in the workshop at the time.
“I was a one-man operation, but Jared treated me like I wasn’t. I could contact him anytime, and he’d always get back to me. That was a major drawcard for me,” says Alistair.
That level of support sparked Alistair’s interest in Volvo trucks and laid the foundation for a lasting relationship with CMV Truck & Bus Albury/Wodonga.
John Templeton, Sales Manager at CMV Truck & Bus Albury/Wodonga, remembers when Gipp Group Transport transitioned from buying used trucks to investing in new ones.
“We started negotiating a deal in November 2021, and by February 2022, Alistair took delivery of his first new truck,” explains John.
“Our relationship is built on honesty and respect – if Alistair needs something, I’ll always do what I can to help. And that trust works both ways – Alistair knows that he’s going to get the answers he wants. If he doesn’t, he knows I’ll go and find the answers for him.”
That trust has been key to Gipp Group’s growth.
Today, the Gipp Group Transport fleet includes a custom-built Mack 780hp Super-Liner, designed for versatility – handling heavy log work, pre-cast deliveries, and road train runs to Queensland.
With custom paintwork and black wheels, it’s a truck that turns heads as well as performing exceptionally, giving Alistair added versatility.
“I bought the Super-Liner to be versatile. The driver is pretty happy with it. It performs outstandingly and I get a few stories back about it marching past other brands,” explains Alistair.

As well as running a range of Volvo’s and the Mack Super-Liner, Gipp Group Transport also runs a UD Truck that was custom built for a specific job, further showcasing the adaptability of the fleet.
