The inaugural Melbourne to MOVE took place on Saturday, April 22, and it is set to become a must-do rally for every motor vehicle enthusiast.
CMV Truck & Bus are proud sponsors of the world-class Museum of Vehicle Evolution (MOVE) in Shepparton, so it was extremely fitting that the rally started at our state-of-the-art Derrimut dealership. Enjoy watching all the highlights from the day in the below video!
In its first year, the Melbourne to MOVE rally attracted a diverse mix of 38 classic and modern cars, motorbikes, trucks and buses.
It was fantastic to have a collection of show worthy vehicles from across the decades. Incredibly, the oldest car participating was a 1921 Bentley. What a sight it was seeing this extraordinary lineup on show before they began their journey from CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut to MOVE in Shepparton!
Several of our team, including Miles Crawford, CMV Truck & Bus General Manager, participated in the rally and drove in style in a range of classic vehicles from the CMV Jim Crawford Historic Vehicle Collection.
To fuel up before the convoy hit the road, participants enjoyed a barista made coffee and a delicious breakfast BBQ for a gold coin donation, plus everyone making the journey to Shepparton received a jam-packed show bag.
Thank you to the group of volunteers who made sure coffee cups and stomachs were full ahead of the journey.
After breakfast there was a thrilling roar of engines at the start line, and before we knew it, the first ever Melbourne to MOVE was off and running!
The cavalcade made its way through the scenic countryside travelling north to Nagambie, then everyone stopped for a lunch along the banks of the Goldburn River at a beautiful private estate at Toolamba.
During the final leg of the rally, drivers travelled to Shepparton and drove proudly through the finish arch at MOVE.
Then celebrations really kicked off at the Finishline Festival with live music and an abundance of food, wine, and other local treats. Everyone was on cloud nine after a great day on the road supporting a fantastic cause, with festivities continuing right through until the evening.
CMV Truck & Bus and the CMV Group are proud to have three historic prime movers on display at MOVE; a 1999 Volvo NH12 460, a 1964 Mack B-61 and a 1973 UD CK40.
The CMV Group is thrilled to add three more treasured trucks from the CMV Jim Crawford Historic Vehicle Collection to the MOVE - a 1961 Commer T53, a Volvo S16 and a 1972 Volvo G88. These additions further cement our support of the transport industry in the influential Goulburn Valley region.
Thank you to everyone involved who made the first ever Melbourne to MOVE rally such a success. We expect Melbourne to MOVE to continue to grow over the years to become a key event on the Victorian motoring calendar.
MOVE is an independent not-for-profit museum and relies on fundraising events such as the Melbourne to MOVE, so future generations can enjoy the one-of-a-kind museum that celebrates legends of the transport industry.
If you’re are in the Shepparton area, be sure to check out the range of impressive vehicles on display at MOVE. This purpose built 10,000 square metre facility must be seen to be believed!
