Every year, Volvo Group Australia (VGA) hosts their prestigious Dealer Awards, which recognises dealerships across the Australian dealer network that are excelling in specific areas.

We are thrilled to let you know that CMV Truck & Bus were recognised with a record breaking three well deserved awards! Plus, our parent company, the CMV Group, received a very special recognition award for achieving an incredible 90-Year milestone. 

This year’s awards were held during the VGA Partner Conference at The Langham on the Gold Coast, and our awards included: 
•    CMV Truck & Bus Shepparton – Dealer of the Year (Regional) 
•    CMV Truck & Bus Clayton – Customer Satisfaction (Metro) 
•    CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut – Volvo Bus Dealer of the Year
•    CMV Group 90 Years Recognition

CMV Truck & Bus Shepparton – Dealer of the Year (Regional) 

We’re thrilled to announce a momentous achievement for CMV Truck & Bus Shepparton, winning the Dealer of the Year (Regional) award after only being part of the CMV Truck & Bus group for three years. This accolade is a testament to the dedication and commitment of every team member, led by our exceptional Branch Manager, Brody Gray who accepted the award on the night.

“Accepting this award fills me with immense pride as it recognises the tireless efforts put in by our amazing and hard-working team over the last few years to establish and grow our truck dealership in the Greater Shepparton region,” said Brody. 

This is just the beginning for CMV Truck & Bus Shepparton, who are on the brink of some exciting developments. They recently announced that they are expanding their customer service offering and are now selling new trucks directly from the dealership. Plus, a new state-of-the-art dealership is about to be constructed – stay tuned for updates! 

This significant investment means that CMV Truck & Bus Shepparton is on track to continue setting new benchmarks in Regional Victoria. We can’t wait to see what is to come!

CMV Truck & Bus Clayton – Customer Satisfaction (Metro) 

The CMV Truck & Bus Clayton team were extremely proud to win the Customer Satisfaction (Metro) for a second year in a row. 

VGA judged the submissions for the Customer Satisfaction Award on customer feedback results, which focused on the customer service received from staff and the dealership as a whole. It’s safe to say we are very pleased to receive such positive feedback from our customers.

Rohan Cook, CMV Truck & Bus Clayton Branch Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the team.

“At CMV Truck & Bus Clayton, we pride ourselves on building trust with our customers, giving them the confidence that we have the expertise to support their business - it’s absolutely paramount. Receiving this award back-to-back is a testament to our extremely talented team, who provide the very best customer experience day in and day out,” said Rohan.

CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut - Volvo Bus Dealer of the Year

We are also extremely proud of CMV Truck & Bus Derrimut, who have been recognised for their outstanding efforts, winning the Volvo Bus Dealer of the Year Award. 

The award was presented by Mitch Peden, Vice President of Volvo Bus, in recognition of the team’s exceptional performance and contribution to the bus industry. Accepting the award on behalf of the team was Derrimut’s Branch Manager, Ross Greig, who expressed his gratitude for the collective efforts that led to this achievement.

Ross shared, “there is remarkable synergy between our bus team, Volvo, and our valued customers. There is a collaborative spirit and shared commitment to excellence.

“I’d like to highlight the invaluable contributions of Anthony Fisicaro, Brad Schulz, Nick Curran and Josh Sevenson, they are the dream team of the bus industry. Their passion for buses and unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction have truly set new standards,” said Ross. 

CMV Group 90 Years Recognition

Once all the award winners had been announced on the night, Martin Merrick, President and CEO of VGA, took to the stage to make one more very special presentation which acknowledged the CMV Group for reaching an incredible 90-year milestone. 

Martin then handed the microphone to Max Winkless, an icon in the trucking industry who was responsible for bringing Volvo Trucks to Australia in 1966. 

Max fondly spoke about his interactions with Sidney Crawford, who founded the CMV Group back in 1934. 

“It was the 1940’s and I was a truck driver in Sydney and I would save up to get my truck serviced in Adelaide with CMV. I would come in all dirty and dusty, the owner Sid with his immaculate attire on would always come out and shake my hand and say “welcome Mr Winkless”. In 1951 I started my own truck sales and service franchise and my promise to myself was, I would model my business off the CMV model. Congratulations,” said Max. 

Martin then shared, “I don’t think any other market in the world can share a story like that. We have a commemorative trophy for the CMV Group to celebrate 90 years in business and 56 years of partnership with Volvo – thank you.”

Joint Managing Director of the CMV Group, Miles Crawford, took to the stage and explained to guests, “our business is built on people and we are incredibly proud to celebrate that we are 90 years young. To have Max in the room who can speak to customer service all the way back to my great grandfather is very humbling.  

“We predict that in the next 10 years we will see more change in the industry than we have since 1934 when we were trading with horses. We look forward to what is an extremely exciting and successful partnership with Volvo in the many years ahead,” said Miles.
