We were excited to host our 2025 Apprentice Evening on Thursday, October 9, held to recognise our graduating apprentices and celebrate our new apprentices joining our award-winning program.
Check out the video below for a recap on this year’s incredible event, hear from our Apprentices as they share how the program is helping launch their careers in the industry.
Apprentices, their families, industry representatives from Kangan Institute, MEGT, and the CMV Truck & Bus management team came together for a memorable evening at our state-of-the-art Derrimut dealership – also home to the CMV Truck & Bus Training Institute.
The showroom was alive and buzzing with energy from all the apprentices alongside flagship Volvo, Mack and UD Trucks proudly on display.
Guests enjoyed mouth-watering slow-cooked and smoked meats, mini pizzas and wagyu beef burgers courtesy of Bigger Than Texas catering. Their team served up a feast that kept everyone coming back for more throughout the night.
Ross Greig, CMV Truck & Bus General Manager – Western Victoria, officially opened the evening, expressing his heartfelt thanks to everyone in attendance and the importance of celebrating the outstanding achievements of our apprentices. He also highlighted the continued success of our award-winning Apprenticeship Program, now in its 22nd year.
Mathew Wyatt, Training Manager at our Training Institute joined Ross on stage and provided an overview of what everyone could expect over the course of the evening, including hearing from Adam Steenbuck, Branch Manager at our Dandenong dealership.
Adam took to the stage and shared how he began his career in 2007 with CMV Truck & Bus as an apprentice and how key decisions and opportunities over the years have helped shape a rewarding career path for him within the business.
Adam shared his learnings that led him to becoming Branch Manager at CMV Truck & Bus Dandenong, how embracing curiosity, showing initiative, and living by the CMV Group’s core values have been essential to his success.
Following Adam’s inspiring speech, Mathew and Richard Lim, Technical Trainer, both took the stage to welcome our newest apprentices and offer a glimpse into the exciting journey ahead for them.
His words of wisdom to this year’s group of apprentices, “stay open to learning, lean on your mentors, and make the most of every experience”.
Each first-year apprentice was invited to the stage to receive their certificate from Ross and pose for a photo. As they made their way up, Mathew shared personal insights about each apprentice – from hobbies to interests outside of work – adding a thoughtful and jovial touch to the evening.
