Proudly Built in Australia

Australian made Volvo Trucks

Built in Australia for Australian conditions

Volvo Trucks Australia first established their production facility in 1972, building heavy duty trucks in Wacol, Brisbane, Queensland. The Australian manufacturing facility continues to build the Volvo FH, FH16, FM and FMX models for the unique Australian conditions

Volvo Trucks Australian engineers use globally proven platforms and the latest technologies to design and test trucks that are tailored for our customer's business needs and applications.

Made for our customer's needs and Australia's tough conditions

Built with the customer front of mind

Every Volvo Truck is designed with our customer's needs front of mind. We know that the conditions and challenges faced in Australia are different to other parts of the world - the loads are heavier and greater distances are travelled, aswell as experiencing a range of climates, from the hot and dusty Outback, to the ice and snow of the Snowy Mountains.

By listening closely to our customers, we have worked closely with Volvo Trucks to produce trucks that are locally engineered, suited to Australian conditions and most importantly, our customer unique requirements.

What makes Volvo Trucks stand out?

Built here for your challenges

The key difference between the European and Australian market is that Volvo Trucks are catered to Australia's local regulations. This means that the vehicle length is shorter for B-Double applications, and front axle loads in Australia are considerably lighter than in Europe. Volvo Trucks engineer their trucks to have more weight at the rear of the vehicle to comply with Australia laws.

Thanks to manufacturing every Volvo Trucks to our customer's requirements, you can choose from a range of different options to suit your businesses needs. Plus, Volvo Trucks' chassis layout is designed to give the customer a number of options such as:

  • The positioning of battery boxes
  • The number of fuel tanks on board
  • Custom wheelbases

The different body types, such as prime mover and rigids, can vary from as short as 3 metre wheelbases to 6.4 metres long. Volvo Trucks custom wheelbases are designed to meet engineering requirements and most importantly, your business.
